On the other hand, I know in house natural Team Hernandez Lifetime Member Shirt leaks seeps are common and go undetected and we breathe and live with all the time. My cooktop is induction. It’s electric but as responsive as gas, and it’s more efficient than radiant electric because less energy is converted to heat. Most people don’t know about induction, but it’s common. I’m all for cleaning up the power grid with green sources. But I think a lot more progress needs to be made on that, before you worry about residential gas use, especially with the rapid move to very high efficiency condensing gas heaters and water heaters.

I don’t believe heating with a heat pump with 100% gas generated Team Hernandez Lifetime Member Shirt will reduce fuel use or carbon dioxide emissions. And that totally ignores the fact that many states still generate a significant portion of electricity with coal. What will be done with the surplus natural gas if people switch? Gas is more or less a byproduct of oil extraction, it can’t be separated from the crude until it is at the surface. Most of the gas extracted in Texas and New Mexico at least is burned off in the field; it’s not cost effective to establish a distribution system.
